What does it mean to be led by the word and not the world?

When the Bible advises against being led by the “world,” it implies resisting influences that contradict gospel principles, encouraging us to resist temptations that lead us away.

These influences often manifest in society as “grass is greener” mentality, “YOLO” mindset, pursuit of short-term gratification, and other cultural trends that promise freedom but often divert from truth.

But as we strive to embody Jesus’ character, our hearts become less and less attached to worldly pursuits. Belief in Christ offers transformation, providing us with true freedom, love and healing.

And while we still inhabit this physical world, Jesus grants us freedom from its evils. So we must resist adopting the values of this world (John 17:14-16), striving instead to lead lives of holiness and righteousness, distinct from worldly ways.

Yet, we must avoid self-righteousness, recognizing ourselves as ambassadors for Christ’s Kingdom, demonstrating the beauty of our true home and inviting others to join us.

Our lives should radiate goodness, grace and compassion, inspiring curiosity and desire for the transformative power of Jesus.
