Practices

The NeWell Method.

A thoughtful approach to the mind, body, and inner life.

Our minds and bodies are constantly influencing one another.

The way we breathe can affect how we feel. Movement can shift our energy. Rest can support our ability to focus. Our thoughts and beliefs influence how we interpret and respond to experiences.

NeWell brings these dimensions together through evidence-informed practices, intentional reflection, Scripture, and prayer.

It’s a flexible framework designed to help women develop awareness, live well, and translate what they’re learning into everyday life.

NeWell is a supportive practice, not a substitute for discipleship, church community, counseling, or medical care.

Philosophy

Why the body belongs in the conversation.

We’re not just minds carrying around bodies.

How we sleep, move, nourish ourselves, and respond to stress influences how well we live, mentally and emotionally.

Our physical state can affect how clearly we think, how patient we feel, and how we respond to the people and circumstances around us.

That’s why caring for the whole person matters.

NeWell draws on evidence-informed mind-body practices while making room for biblical reflection, prayer, and intentional action.

It isn’t about perfecting yourself or creating an elaborate routine.

It’s about understanding what you need and developing thoughtful ways to respond.

The five stages

ARRIVE · ATTUNE · ANCHOR · ABIDE · APPLY

Short sessions may fold stages together; the order and length can change.

  1. ARRIVE

    Notice where you are.

Begin by paying attention to the present moment.

Observe your thoughts, emotions, breathing, physical sensations, and surroundings without immediately trying to change them.

Awareness gives us a starting point.

  2. ATTUNE

Respond to what your body needs.

Explore gentle breathing, accessible movement, physical relaxation, or restorative rest.

This stage focuses on supporting the body through practices that can help you feel more present and comfortable.

  3. ANCHOR

    Return to what is true.

Consider the beliefs and perspectives shaping your experience.

Engage with Scripture and reflect on how biblical truth informs your understanding of yourself, your circumstances, and your response.

  4. ABIDE

Make room for connection with God.

Through prayer, gratitude, contemplation, or quiet reflection, create an opportunity to respond to what you’ve considered.

This isn’t about manufacturing a particular feeling or spiritual experience.

  5. APPLY

    Bring it into everyday life.

Consider what you’ve noticed and what might need to change.

That could mean adjusting a habit, choosing rest, approaching a conversation differently, or taking one intentional step toward a meaningful priority.

The purpose is to translate reflection into action.

Three applications

One method. Different moments.

NeWell isn’t a single routine.

The same framework can support a short morning practice, a guided movement session, a moment of reflection, or an extended period of rest.

Each experience draws on different elements of the method according to its purpose.

Practice with care

Gentle by design.

NeWell is a supportive practice, not a substitute for discipleship, church community, counseling, or medical care.

  • Natural breathing is always fine. We never ask you to force deep or fast breathing, or to hold your breath.
  • Stop if you feel lightheaded, tingly, panicked or unwell, and return to ordinary breathing.
  • Move within comfort. Seated, standing and floor options are offered; adapt for injury, pain, pregnancy or limited mobility.
  • Keep your eyes open, skip a body scan or imagery, or opt out of any part, anytime.

Our practices are Scripture-centered experiences that combine appropriate physical techniques with biblical reflection and prayer. They are not intended to replace Christian discipleship, medical care, or mental health treatment.

Women Led By Faith offers education and community, not counseling or medical care. If you’re working through trauma or a health concern, please seek a licensed professional.
